Amber Viscione -
Community Support Worker

Brief description of role:
I am currently working in a new transitional service at Daw Park.  My role is to support and guide the people that live at the service to  realise their independence.

Why I work at Cara:
I have worked in the disability field for 15 years, 7 years with Cara.  I am very passionate about my career in the care and disability sector.  My core belief is that the people I assist must be given help and support to be independent and reach their full potential to have rich and fulfilling lives. My philosophies align with Cara’s stated goals.  This gives me the confidence to know that my support for the people I work with matches Cara’s expectations.

What I enjoy in my role as a Community Support Worker:
I love to see people achieve, learn, develop and grow.  I like to ensure that people feel safe, happy, secure and be given the highest quality care.  I enjoy all of the challenges that come with this role.

Opportunities I have had:
Developing many skills in palliative care, intellectual disability and mental health, involvement in Youth Getaway programs, member of Manual Handling team, working in Head Office in Administration and Reception, Certificates III and Iv in Disability Work, Acting Manager for a service.

Cheryl Lehmann -
Service Manager

Brief description of role: Managing a new transitional, temporary service in Daw Park. Supporting the people living at the service and managing and leading the team

Why I work at Cara: I have had many different opportunities at Cara in different roles and in developing my skills through training. Cara’s philosophy around service delivery, supporting people to be involved in as much as possible, doing with not for fits with my values.

What I enjoy in my role as Service Manager:  Setting up a new service has been a great opportunity and a wonderful challenge. I work with a highly skilled and committed team that support me in my role. Most importantly the people we support live in a way where they are in control, being supported with a quality service, trying new activities and achieving, it is a great environment to work in!

Opportunities I have had:  Working within the Skills Enhancement Service, Project Work, Quality Committee, Camps for Kids Program, Manual Handling Team, supporting the Consumer Reference Council, Presenting at Conferences plus much more!

Emma O'Halloran -
Trainee

Brief description of role: Support Worker in a service at Mount Barker. I support the people living at the service.

Why I work at Cara: I enjoy working with the people I support and find the other staff members at Cara very supportive. I have many training opportunities. I enjoy going on outings with the people I support, especially when there are local festivities on.

What I enjoy in my role as a Trainee: I enjoy learning new ways to support people and I get the opportunity to work and study at the same time so that i can get paid while I study.

Opportunities I have had: Since working at Cara I have had the opportunity to attend various training sessions which have helped my confidence. I have had the opportunity to support people to attend many fun events such as swimming, going to the movies and attending local events. I know that there will be many more rewarding opportunities to come!
