Please note: Due to resource constraints Cara is currently not able to offer student placements. Please check back periodically to see if the situation has changed.
Cara offers student placements to those studying at secondary schools, colleges, TAFE, training centres and universities.
Student placements may include hands on work in any of Cara’s accommodation or respite services or project work based at our Head Office.
A variety of projects have been undertaken by students. Some examples include:
- Occupational Therapy – creating and reviewing assessment tools for skills training for people with a disability.
- Social Work – supporting the Families for Families program
- Bachelor of Disability Studies – Research and creation of a process to consult people with severe and multiple disabilities in service provision
- TAFE – Lifestyle and Leisure – design of a sensory garden for a children’s respite service
Cara also supports students studying Certificate III & IV in Community Service – Disability/Aged Care from TAFE, Carer’s Training Centre and Australian Workplace Training who are required to do between 30 – 120 hours community work within the disability field.
