Training Employees are our greatest asset. Bringing out the best in our employees takes a commitment to development. It’s what grows our organisation, but most importantly it’s what’s essential to your career.
We provide on-the-job training to all employees including health support, manual handling and individualised induction training. You will also have support from a team of training professionals who will teach you about communication, advocacy, and positive behaviour support.
External and online training opportunities that are relevant to the service you are working with are available and staff also have study leave entitlements when undertaking relevant externally based tertiary or vocational education.
Leave Entitlements At Cara we understand the importance of work/ life balance and know that staff value their personal time and require a much needed break every now and then. A full time staff member rostered to work over more than five days in any week is entitled to five weeks annual leave with pay after twelve months of continuous service. Employees are also entitled to long service leave, personal/sick leave, maternity/ paternity leave, compassionate leave, jury duty and witness leave.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Cara understands the value of both the professional and personal wellbeing of our employees. Cara’s EAP is a professional, confidential counseling service for staff, paid for by Cara. Cara’s EAP provides short term, solution focused counseling and/or referral to other professionals or agencies if longer term or more specific assistance in needed.
24 hour On Call Back up Support Cara places great importance on the safety of both individuals with disabilities who are supported in our services, as well as the safety of employees. A 24 hour on call system exists for employees who require immediate support while working a shift.
Salary Packaging Cara’s salary packaging enables employees to significantly enhance the value of their remuneration (take home pay) by gaining $16, 050 tax free dollars per FBT year. This equates to, on average, a 14 percent pay rise. You can use these savings in many unique ways!
