Why work at Cara?

To attract and keep the best staff, Cara recognises the need to provide a positive and fulfilling workplace. An attractive environment filled with happy staff is also, of course, the best way to ensure the satisfaction of our clients and keep our organisation flourishing.

Motivated and positive people come to Cara for benefits like:
- a collective agreement ensuring above-average pay plus penalty rates
- salary packaging providing $16,050 tax free dollars per financial year
- on-the-job training and external training opportunities, plus study leave entitlements
- paid parental leave
- opportunities for traineeships
- opportunities for promotion
- opportunities to initiate change
- equal opportunity for women and men
- a safe working environment  – Cara has achieved the highest occupational health and safety rating from WorkCover
- 24 hour on-call backup staff support
- Employee Assistance Program

Each year Cara conducts a satisfaction survey to see how well our services rate with those we aim to help.  Each year we have received a very high overall satisfaction rating. However we continually strive to improve our satisfaction levels. Many rewards for staff are tangible, but equally rewarding is a face lighting up with a new achievement.

Cara is a forward-thinking organisation with strong strategic directions to expand and improve to meet ever-growing demand.Cara is recognised locally and nationally as a leader in the provision of disability support services for individuals with disabilities and their families.

Cara has a strong focus on ensuring people with a disability take an active part in home and community life. Our structured person centered approach to helping people with disabilities engage in meaningful activities and relationships, has been instrumental in strengthening our core philosophy of providing people with opportunities.

We have also looked “beyond our own backyard”, with Cara securing AusAID funding to help a not-for-profit organisation in Thailand establish its own respite services for children.
